Take Action

Here are things you can do to make your voice heard. We will be updating this page as new opportunities arise. Please reach out if you have additional ideas to add!

Attend a Community Boundary Review Meeting

FCPS will be holding a series of meetings to gather feedback on the proposed changes from the community in the coming weeks. You may attend in person or virtually. Although there are no meetings scheduled at our affected pyramids (Westfield High School and South Lakes High School), the best meeting to attend will be at Chantilly High School on May 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We strongly encourage neighbors to join in person as it is important to show we are a large, involved community that can’t be ignored. You should register in advance.

While you may join any community meeting you like, we are not advocating any coordinated group attendance at any meeting other than the one being held at Chantilly. There are many areas in Fairfax that could be affected by redistricting, and we support anyone in the county that is fighting for their own community. We want to avoid distracting from other voices at meetings held in regions not our own.

At the Chantilly meeting, you will have the chance to use Pigeonhole, the app FCPS is using to gather feedback on the proposed boundary changes. This is a good time to express your concerns about Emerald Chase being moved away from Oak Hill Elementary School and upvote other comments you agree with! However, it is important to note that we are not advocating making comments specific to Emerald Chase on Pigeonhole except for at the Chantilly meeting. However, we do recommend submitting any generic concerns about the boundary review process during any and all meetings!

Reach out to the FCPS School Board

Call or email members of the school board to tell them you do NOT want Emerald Chase moved from Oak Hill. We strongly encourage phone calls to school board offices as this will have the greatest impact. You may use any of our talking points, or use your own!

Comment on the Draft Boundary Maps

To take the survey:

  • Click on the orange “survey” button at the top left of the screen
  • Fill out the survey with your information and your desired options — we recommend adding stars to the following priorities: keeping neighborhoods together, increase walkability to schools, reduce travel time, and minimize the number of students who change schools due to boundary changes

To add a comment on your address:

  • Enter your address
  • Click on the orange “comment” button at the bottom left of the screen
  • Click on the orange bullseye button on your address
  • Click the angry face
  • Click on scenario 2 and/or 3

Ask Friends and Family to Support Us

We encourage you to reach out to anyone you know in Fairfax County and ask them to support us! They can make calls, send emails, comment on the scenario explorer, and/or attend the May 30 Chantilly boundary review meeting in solidarity. The more people who reach out on our behalf the better!
